Ample Time to Vacate Apartment Law & Legal Definition

Ample time period to vacate an apartment generally depends upon the agreement between the landlord and the tenant and the underlying reason for the tenant's vacating the property (i.e. whether the tenant is involved in an eviction or the tenant is not continuing on a month-to-month tenancy). In a situation where Tenant is vacating the property or Landlord refuses to extend the lease during a month-to-month tenancy, 30 days notice to vacate may be appropriate. The notice period may also be as little as 3 days to 14 days when an eviction is taking place. State law, which varies from state to state, may dictate other minimum time periods.
