Appellee Law & Legal Definition

Appellant and Appellee are the two parties to an appeal. An Appeal is a procedure by which an appellant (a person or entity) seeks review of a lower court’s decision by a higher court. An appellee is a party against whom an appeal is taken and who responds to the appeal. An appellee usually seeks to uphold the lower court’s decision. Appellee is the respondent in an appeal.
