Asportation is the felonious removal of goods from the place where they were deposited. It is often judged to be a larceny, even though the goods aren't removed from the building. The physical movement, which involves exercising control and dominion over the property is sufficient for larceny. Asportation may be an element in other crimes, such as robbery, theft, and kidnapping.
