Copyhold Estate Law and Legal Definition
A copyhold estate is a form of English land tenure. It is a parcel of a manor, held at the will of the lord, according to the custom of the manor, by a grant from the lord, and admittance of the tenant, entered on the rolls of the manor court.
It is an estate at will which was enrolled, thereby establishing the rights of the tenant and giving more permanency to his/her estate than an ordinary estate at will.
