Dependency Theory Law & Legal Definition

A theory which states that due to the exploitative nature of the relationship between advanced capitalist societies and Third World, development of the capitalist societies led to underdevelopment of Third World. This theory states that resources from poor and underdeveloped states flow to wealthy states, thereby enriching the wealthy states at the expense of the poor states. This theory is based on Marxist analysis of inequalities.
