Dwell Time [Aeronautics and Space] Law & Legal Definition

According to 14 CFR 417.3 [Title 14 Aeronautics and Space; Chapter III Commercial Space Transportation, Federal Aviation Administration, Department of Transportation (Parts 400 to 499); Subchapter C Licensing; Part 417 Launch Safety; Subpart A General and License Terms and Conditions], Dwell Time means --

“(1) The period during which a launch vehicle instantaneous impact point is over a populated or other protected area; or

(2) The period during which an object is subjected to a test condition.”
