Main Opinion [Judicial Opinion] Law and Legal Definition
Main opinion is a judicial opinion agreed to by more than half of the judges considering a particular case. The main opinion sets forth the decision of the court. It also includes an explanation of the rationale behind the court's decision. It is also termed majority opinion. The opinion of the dissenting judges in called dissenting or minority opinion.
