Mexican divorce is a divorce obtained in Mexico either by mail order or by the appearance of one of the spouses who does not have a Mexican domicile. A Mexican divorce is easier, quicker, and less expensive than a divorce in most states of the US. During 1970’s, many courts ceased accepting divorce petitions from non residents. However, Mexican divorce is not recognized in the U.S. Such a divorce, if granted in the Dominican Republic is known as a Dominican divorce and if granted in Haiti is known as a Haitian divorce.
