Notice Pleading Law & Legal Definition

A pleading generally is a formal statement of claims, averments, allegations, denials, or defenses which is made by a party in a legal proceeding. Notice pleading refers to a style of pleading in which all the technical facts aren't required to be spelled out in the document, but only those which are sufficient to put the other parties on notice, or made aware of, the claim or defense being made.
