One strike eviction refers to the immediate eviction of all tenants living in a single public housing apartment if any member of the household is convicted of drug dealing.
The federal one strike eviction statute governing public housing, 42 U.S.C. § 1437d (l)(6), authorizes eviction of a tenant for the criminal activity of the tenant, any member of the tenant's household, or any guest or other person under the tenant's control. [Ball v. Arthur Winn Gen. P'shp/S. Hills Apts., 905 A.2d 147, 151 (D.C. 2006)].
