Pay Range Law & Legal Definition
A pay range sets the upper and lower limits of possible compensation for individuals whose jobs fall in the range. The process of assigning a job to an appropriate pay range involves job information, job evaluation, and market considerations. Pay ranges may be established by private employer policies, or by federal state laws, which vary by state, for public employees.
