Qualitative analysis is a research method that uses open-ended interviewing to study and understand the attitudes, opinions, feelings, and behavior of individuals or a group of individuals. Comprehensive comparison between qualitative and quantitative is made in order to reach deep understanding and to build strong foundation for qualitative data analysis. Qualitative data deals with meanings, and quantitative data deals with number.

In the scientific context, qualitative data analysis is a branch of chemistry that deals with the identification of elements or grouping of elements present in a sample. The techniques employed in qualitative analysis vary in complexity, depending on the nature of the sample.
