Signature Law & Legal Definition

Related to Signature

A signature is the name of a person written with his or her own hand. It is often a legal means of indicating acceptance of a contract. Under the laws of some states, which vary by state, it includes a mark, if a person cannot write, with the person's name written near it and witnessed by a person who writes the person's own name as witness. Signatures may also be refered to as subscriptions.
