Sneak And Peek Search Warrant Law & Legal Definition

A sneak and peek search warrant is a warrant that authorizes a police officer to physically enter into private premises without the owner's or the occupant's permission or knowledge to conduct a search of the premises. Generally, such entry requires a breaking and entering. However, this warrant does not authorize law enforcement officers to seize any property from the premises.

A sneak and peek search warrant is also termed as a covert entry search warrant or a surreptitious entry search warrant. Such warrants are especially beneficial to illegal drug manufacturing investigations because they allow investigative teams to search the premises for chemicals and drug paraphernalia.
