Spindled is a term often used in certain Illinois courts for the process of filing a motion, and filing the notice that the motion will be presented to the court for a hearing. The term derives from Cook County, Illinois, in twhich the court clerk had the practice of attaching the motion and notice papers o the clerk's file with a needle, or "spindle."
