The Uniform Mandatory Disposition of Detainers Act is one of the uniform acts prepared and sponsored by the National Conference of Commissioners on Uniform State Laws. This act provides for a prompt disposition of detainers by providing that prosecuting officials, upon the request of a prisoner, must move forward with trial on the charge or such charge will be dismissed. However, this act is now regarded by the National Conference of Commissioners as a model act, instead of a uniform act. So it may be known as the Model Mandatory Disposition of Detainers Act. It has adopted by states like Kansas , Colorado etc.
