Verdict Law & Legal Definition

Verdict is the jury’s findings or decision on the factual issues of the case. It is the formal decision issued by the jury on the issues of fact that were presented at trial. In other words it is the unanimous decision made by a jury and reported to the court on the matters lawfully submitted to them in the course of the trial of a cause.

In a non jury trial it can also refer to a judge’s resolution of the issues of a case.
