55th Wing [55 WG] Law and Legal Definition
The 55th Wing (55 WG) is a United States Air Force unit attributed to Air Combat Command stationed at Offutt Air Force Base, Nebraska.
The Wing functions include conducting worldwide reconnaissance, command, control and communications. It provides presidential support and international treaty verification as directed by the president, secretary of defense, Joint Chiefs of Staff, theater combatant commanders, commanders of major Air Force commands and national intelligence agencies. The 55 WG is the only Air Force wing with continuous operations, maintenance, and aircraft presence in the U.S. Central Command area of responsibility since Operation Desert Storm.
