Abstract juridical act as used in Civil law refers to a juridical act whose validity does not depend upon the legality or lawfulness of the underlying cause. A juridical act is one that conforms to the laws. For example, in some systems negotiable instruments, debt remission, debt acknowledgment, and the novation of an obligation are considered abstract juridical acts.
