Abuse Excuse Law and Legal Definition
This is a type of self-defense claim with which defendants seek to justify their actions by proving that they were subjected to years of prolonged child or spousal abuse. Although this defense is not specifically recognized in substantive Criminal Law, it has been used successfully in some cases to prove, for example, the Insanity Defense.
