Academic Field [Education] Law and Legal Definition
According to 34 CFR 648.9 (b) [Title 34 – Education; Subtitle B -- Regulations of the Offices of the Department of Education; Chapter VI -- Office of Postsecondary Education, Department of Education; Part 648 -- Graduate Assistance in Areas of National Need; Subpart A – General], the term academic field means “an area of study in an academic department within an institution of higher education other than a school or department of divinity.”
