Accelerated Vesting Law and Legal Definition
Vesting is to give an immediately secured right of present or future enjoyment. Accelerated Vesting is a form of vesting that takes place at a faster rate than the initial vesting schedule in a founder or startup employee’s stock purchase or stock option agreement. The accelerated vesting can be for part, or all, of the founder’s or employee’s unvested shares or stock options. The most common types of accelerated vesting are single trigger and double trigger acceleration.
