Acceptance of Plea Law and Legal Definition
Acceptance of plea is the reception by the court in a criminal prosecution of a plea of guilty. There are statutory limitations upon the acceptance of a plea in a capital case and in any case where it is open to the accused to plead guilty, the court is under a duty to determine whether the plea is voluntary and to admonish the accused of the consequences of the plea.
