Accounting Series Release Law and Legal Definition
Accounting Series Release (ASR) means an official accounting pronouncement published by the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). It provides accounting and auditing procedures to be followed in reports filed with any agency. It also provides guidelines and rules on all aspects of corporate accounting, including requirements, auditing policies, disclosure mandates, and activities regarding Certified Public Accountant (CPA) Firms filing financial statements with the SEC for publicly traded companies. ASR continually refines accounting requirements in response financial reporting issues. ASRs are issued along with Auditing Enforcement Releases (AAERs) in the SEC Docket. ASR is now codified as Financial Reporting Releases (FRRs).
