Acquired-Rights Doctrine Law and Legal Definition
This doctrine says that once a right has been vested, then it may not be altered or reduced by a subsequent legislation. An example of this doctrine is the Universal Copyright Convention that applies to the doctrine to copyright protections in case of the terms that controlled before the Convention took effect.
