Ad hoc compromis refers to an agreement in which countries submit a particular dispute to an ad hoc institution. An ad hoc institution can be an institutionalized arbitral tribunal or an international court. Under ad hoc compromis, the dispute may be between particular countries. It is also known as compromise proper or special agreement.
