Adolescence Law and Legal Definition
Adolescence is the age which follows puberty and precedes the age of majority. There is no precise definition of the age group of adolescents, but it is considered the time during which a person is biologically adult but emotionally not at full maturity.
Puberty is generally perceived as the development of adult sexual characteristics: breasts, menstrual periods, pubic hair, facial hair. However, by age 10, or even earlier, some kids begin to show behavioral changes that sometimes mark the beginning of adolescence. Many announce the onset of adolescence with a dramatic change in behavior around their parents. One of the common stereotypes of adolescence is the rebellious, wild teen continually at odds with their parents.
