Adolescent Worker Law and Legal Definition
Adolescent workers refer to young workers of age between sixteen or seventeen. An adolescent worker’s employment is restricted. They should not work more than eight hours a day and not more than forty hours a week. No adolescent worker may work between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m. or 11 p.m. and 7 a.m. S/he is entitled to twelve consecutive hours' rest between each working day, two days' weekly rest, and a 30-minute rest break when working longer than 4½ hours. An adolescent worker is also entitled to four weeks' paid annual leave. Employers are obliged to pay an adolescent employee the federal minimum wage. Adolescent workers are entitled to a safe and healthy work environment.
