Affidavit of Loss Law and Legal Definition
Affidavit of loss is a legal document declaring the physical loss of a security through theft or destruction by fire/flood. It will contain all details regarding the loss, the owner's name and any information pertaining to the security, such as serial number or date of issue.
Affidavit of loss can also be filed for a number of things including identifications such as passports, certificates of title for homes and vehicle, and certificates indicating ownership of securities.
