Affirmation clause refers to a clause in the U.S. Constitution that requires the members of Congress, the state legislature, and all members of the executive or judicial branch of both state and local, to pledge by oath or affirmation to support the constitution. This clause is also known as the oath clause and is codified at USCS Const. Art. VI, Cl 3.
