Aircraft Law and Legal Definition
The main source for aviation law then is federal law, such as administered by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), who issues directives on the airworthiness of aircraft. An airworthiness certificate is an FAA document which grants authorization to operate an aircraft in flight. A registered owner or owner's agent of an aircraft may apply for an airworthiness certificate. States are not prohibited, however, from enacting consistent laws, or from altering existing remedies under state law.
