Aircraft Piracy Law and Legal Definition
Under special aircraft jurisdiction of the U.S., aircraft piracy means seizing or exercising control of an aircraft in the special aircraft jurisdiction of the U.S. by force, violence, threat of force or violence, or any form of intimidation, and with wrongful intent. An individual committing or attempting or conspiring to commit aircraft piracy will be imprisoned for at least 20 years; or if the death of another individual occurs from the commission or attempt of aircraft piracy, the person who committed piracy will be put to death or imprisoned for life. The punishments are same for aircraft piracy committed outside special aircraft jurisdiction. [49 USCS § 46502]
