Alien Absconder Law and Legal Definition
Alien absconders are illegal immigrants who have ignored and evaded deportation orders. They are illegal foreign visitors remaining in the U.S. after an immigration judge has ordered them deported. They are also known as fugitive aliens.
The Alien Absconder Initiative gives local law enforcement agencies access to the names of immigrants who allegedly have orders for deportation or removal. Local police are already detaining and deporting alleged absconders pursuant to this initiative. However, many of these immigrants may have a legal defense against deportation.
