Amalphitan Code Law and Legal Definition
Amalphitan Code is a compilation of maritime law made late in the 11nth century by the people of Amalphi, at the port of Amalfi near Naples. It consists of the laws on maritime subjects which were, or had been, in force in countries bordering on the Mediterranean.This code was regarded as a primary source of sea law throughout the Mediterranean till the end of the 16nth century. This is also termed as Amalphitan Table; Laws of Amalfi ; Tablets of Amalfi.
