Amateur Athlete Law and Legal Definition
According to 36 USCS § 220501 [Title 36. Patriotic and National Observances, Ceremonies, and Organizations; Subtitle II. Patriotic and National Organizations; Part B. Organizations; Chapter 2205. United States Olympic Committee; Subchapter I. Corporation], amateur athlete means an athlete who meets the eligibility standards established by the national governing body or paralympic sports organization for the sport in which the athlete competes.
