Amateur Draft Law and Legal Definition
Amateur draft is a system used by professional sports leagues to allocate amateurs among the teams in a league. Teams choose the amateurs in reverse order of their previous season's standing so that the teams with poor records from the previous season choose before the teams that finished higher in the standings. This procedure is designed to create parity among teams.
