Annuitize is the process of converting all or a portion of the accumulated value of an annuity into a stream of income by electing to begin receiving a series of payments from an annuity, either for one or more lifetimes or a specific period of time. It is a settlement that changes a deferred annuity from the accumulation phase to the payout phase.
