Answer is a reply to a question or a solution to a problem. Answer, generally implies the rendering of a response. In law, answer means a defendant’s defense against charges. Answer refers to a defendant’s formal written statement to a plaintiff’s initial petition or complaint. Usually, an answer denies all or some of the allegations set forth in the complaint. Sometimes, an answer can include the defendant’s counterclaims (allegations or claims against the plaintiff) or affirmative defenses (legal defenses that can defeat the plaintiff’s claim). A defendant normally has 30 days time period to file an answer to the plaintiff’s complaint.
