Archivist Law and Legal Definition
According to 36 CFR 1275.16 (Title 36, Parks, Forests, and Public Property: chapter XII, National Archives and Records Administration; Subchapter F, Nixon Presidential Materials; Part 1275; Preservation and Protection of and Access to the Presidential Historical Materials of the Nixon Administration; Subpart A; General Provisions), the term "Archivist" shall mean “the Archivist of the United States or his designated agent. The term "archivist" shall mean an employee of the National Archives and Records Administration who, by education or experience, is specially trained in archival science.”
