Assertory Oath Law and Legal Definition
Assertory oath is an oath by which one asserts a statement of fact, as in an affidavit. By taking such an oath, the person attests to some factual matter, rather than making a promise about one's future conduct. Oaths taken by courtroom witnesses are examples of assertory oaths.
