Assistantship (Education) Law and Legal Definition
Assistantship is a grant of financial assistance to a graduate student that is offered in return for certain services in teaching or laboratory supervision as a teaching assistant, or for services in research as a research assistant. Mostly appointments are for nine months beginning with the start of the academic year. Some appointments are for summer sessions only. Appointments are usually made in late spring for the coming academic year.
