Autism Law and Legal Definition
Autism is a bio-neurological disorder observable in early childhood of a human being. Characteristics of autistic person are:
1. lack of response to other humans;
2. disinclination to communicate and socialize; and
3. routine or repetitive behaviors.
Autism is a life-long brain disorder. Autistic persons find it hard to make sense of the world around them. Autism varies in severity and impact from individual to individual. They have unusual patterns of language development, narrow interests and engage in repetitive behaviors. Asperger's Syndrome is a form of autism in which speech development and IQ are normal, but social disability is compounded by depression and mental health problems.
