Avulsion Law and Legal Definition
Avulsion means forcible detachment or separation.
In law, it refers to a sudden removal of land or sudden movement of soil from one property to another caused by change in a river’s course or by flood. The land that is removed by avulsion remains the property of the original owner.
It also refers to tearing away of a body part either as the result of injury or as an intentional surgical procedure.
