Award [Aeronautics and Space] Law and Legal Definition
Pursuant to 14 CFR 1260.102 [Title 14 Aeronautics and Space; Chapter V National Aeronautics and Space Administration; Part 1260 Grants and Cooperative Agreements; Subpart B Uniform Administrative Requirements for Grants and Cooperative Agreements with Institutions of Higher Education, Hospitals, and Other Non-Profit Organizations; General], the term award means “a grant or cooperative agreement that provides support or stimulation to accomplish a public purpose. Awards include research grants, training grants, facilities grants, educational grants, and cooperative agreements in the form of money or property in lieu of money, by NASA to an eligible recipient. The term does not include: Technical assistance, which provides services instead of money; other assistance in the form of loans, loan guarantees, interest subsidies, or insurance; direct payments of any kind to individuals; and, contracts which are required to be entered into and administered under procurement laws and regulations.”
