Bagley-Keane Act Law and Legal Definition
This Act is also known as Bagley Keane Open Meeting Act. This Act implements a provision of the California Constitution which declares that "the meetings of public bodies and the writings of public officials and agencies shall be open to public scrutiny". The Act explicitly mandates open meetings for California State agencies, boards, and commissions and this in turn helps facilitate accountability and transparency in government activities. It preserves the right of citizens to participate in State government deliberations.
