Basic Research Law and Legal Definition
Pursuant to 20 USCS § 9501 (3), [Title 20. Education; Chapter 76. Education Research, Statistics, Evaluation, Information, And Dissemination; Education Sciences Reform] the term basic research means “research--
(A) to gain fundamental knowledge or understanding of phenomena and observable facts, without specific application toward processes or products; and
(B) for the advancement of knowledge in the field of education.”
