Bill in the nature of interpleader is a bill seeking affirmative relief independent of the conflicting claims of the several defendants. Bill in the nature of interpleader may often be allowed to file a party when he asserts a substantial interest in the fund or property in controversy and hence cannot file a bill to compel other claimants to interplead concerning the same.
