Blended Sentence Law and Legal Definition
Blended Sentence means a sentence imposed by a juvenile court that blends a juvenile sentence and an adult sentence for certain serious youthful offenders. While imposing a blended sentence, the juvenile court first gives a juvenile disposition like serving a term in a Department of Youth Services facility and then the court gives a sentence as if the offender were before an adult court. During the juvenile term the court must suspend the adult sentence. If the offender completes the juvenile disposition without serious incident, the sentence may be ended. But, if the offender commits certain other offenses and engages in certain intimidating conduct during the juvenile term, the court may invoke the adult sentence after a hearing on the new violation.
