Blue bark refers to any U.S. military personnel, U.S. citizen civilian employees of the Department of Defense, and the dependents of both categories who travel in connection with the death of an immediate family member. It also includes the designated escorts for dependents of deceased military members. The term is also used to designate the personal property shipment of a deceased member.
