Board of Regents Law and Legal Definition
Board of Regents is a group of people appointed to supervise an educational institution. In the U.S, a Board of Regents often administers public institutions of higher education, which include both state universities and community colleges.
Each U.S. state may have a board of regent to govern the state university system, individual colleges and universities, or both. In general they operate as a board of directors, and they vary by formal name, size, powers, and membership. In some states, members are appointed by the governor.
